Vancouver Tryouts

Please bring a signed medical release waiver and a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the tryouts.

Please also prepare your USAV membership before tryout day. This membership is required to tryout for our club. Memberships can be purchased starting Sept. 2nd - tryout memberships and full memberships are valid for tryouts.

If you had a membership last year, please use that USAV number to fill out your tryout information. If you have never had a USAV membership, please make sure to purchase one prior to attending tryouts. In the field for USAV #, please put N/A if you register prior to Sept. 2nd. Most athletes will play within their assigned age group. However, there are certain scenarios where an athlete would play up or down in an age group. Playing down will require approval. The athlete’s goals will be considered when making the decision.

When athletes arrive, they’ll check in, receive a number, and warm up before starting drills with our coaching staff. Coaches will observe skills, teamwork, and effort throughout the session. By the end of tryouts, teams are formed. After placement, families will complete player contracts, pay deposits, and athletes will be fitted for their season gear.

Each team has two coaches - a head coach and an assistant coach.

We budget for each team to take 12 players. Some teams may take up to 13.

At the end of tryouts, athletes are informed of the team they made. At that time, they are required to commit and pay the club deposit.

We want to be as inclusive as possible, meaning we will avoid cuts if possible. We do have limitations on the number of coaches, facilities and times we can practice so that is taken into consideration when forming teams.

Not quite. It’s no secret that we recruit for our top teams but that does not mean the entire team is formed prior to tryouts. We still evaluate the players at tryouts and select the right players for the team.
