Common questions for tournaments
What time should we book flights to leave?
Please book flights to leave the day before the tournament. Also, to prevent any problems with possible delayed flights to the tournament try to arrive before or around 6pm that night at the latest.
What time should we book flights home?
We don't know what time the teams will be done playing on the last day of a tournament so please, book your flight no earlier than 6pm if the airport is close. If the airport is 30min or more away, please book your flight after 6:00pm. Also, on the last day of tournament, if the team losses the last match they are usually asked to stay and officiate the next match so please don't book an early flight and ask your coach to leave early. Your daughter/player is required like everyone else on the team to stay and do their reffing assignments.
Do teams travel on the same flights?
You are more than welcome to try and book flights with other players but aren't required to take a specific flight to and from the tournaments. Some of you may want to come in a day or two early and or stay longer which you are welcome to do.
Can we get our rooms at any hotel?
The following tournaments are considered Stay & Play Tournaments:
- Fiesta Festival
- NWJ Presidents Day
- PNQ - Spokane
- Salt Lake City Qualifier
- SVT Southeast Qualifier
This means that tournaments are contracted with specific hotels that we have to stay at as a team, or we can't play in the tournament. Yes, they do check & is required for acceptance into the tournament. Aspire will book a block of hotel rooms for the teams to meet the requirement at one of these select hotels and then the parents on each team will need to book from there. Again, if this isn't done, we can't play in the tournament, and this is out of our control.
When we get to the travel location airport how do we get around?
Once you get to the airport since everyone is coming in at different times you can either rent a car, uber, take a bus and or train if that city has one. Aspire doesn't provide transportation for the travel tournaments at this time.
Are parents required to travel to the tournaments?
No, but adult supervision is required. If you are not traveling with your athlete, you will need to make plans to make sure they have a chaperone with them. An alternative may be that your child travels with another player's parent who is traveling to the same tournament. It is the parents' responsibility to make arrangements and coaches will not chaperone the players during any trip.
