Patty Jayne is the head coach for our 13.1 team in Vancouver. She played collegiate volleyball at Portland State, winning a National Championship, and also competed in volleyball and basketball at the University of San Francisco. In high school at St. Mary’s Academy, she helped lead her teams to state championships in both volleyball and basketball.
With over 35 years of coaching experience at all levels, Patty has served as head coach at the University of Portland and Pacific University, assistant coach at the University of Oregon and Ohio State University, and coached high school programs including St. Mary’s Academy, Central Catholic, and LaSalle. She has also coached CYO teams and numerous club programs and camps throughout Portland and Columbus, Ohio.
Patty grew up in the Portland area and enjoys spending time outdoors, riding her bike, cooking, and doing Sudoku puzzles.
Her coaching philosophy emphasizes using volleyball as a vehicle for life lessons. She focuses on developing fundamentally sound skills, building self-belief, fostering selflessness as a teammate, and helping players become students of the game.
